Conversations usually begin with words. They unfold through shared experiences, thoughtful questions, and the simple act of listening. Through them, people come to understand one another, preserve memories, and build relationships that shape their lives.
Michelle has spent much of her life helping people find clarity, healing and connection. Her work has taken many forms: teacher, counselor, spiritual hypnotherapist, Reiki practitioner, meditation guide, and creator of Soul Talks. Although each role serves a different purpose, they're united by a shared belief that meaningful relationships begin with curiosity, empathy and a willingness to listen.
Away from the classroom, the consultation room, the meditation circle and the camera, another relationship occupied a very different place in Michelle's life.
His name was Thunder.
Michelle & Thunder
Beyond language
Michelle understands the value of conversation. As the woman behind Soul Talks, she's created a platform where guests speak openly about life, purpose, relationships and the experiences that have shaped them.
Away from the microphone, another relationship occupied a special place in her life: her adopted French bulldog, Thunder.
Thunder never sat across from a microphone or joined an interview, yet he became one of the most unforgettable characters in Michelle's everyday life. His greetings were legendary. The moment someone walked through the door, he'd launch himself forward with complete confidence, generous slobbery kisses included, convinced that every visitor had arrived for the sole purpose of seeing him. Personal space was simply a suggestion in Thunder's world.
Life with Thunder was filled with familiar rituals that gradually became their own form of communication. Walks could never happen quickly enough, playful interruptions demanded everyone's attention, and determined stares made ignoring him impossible. By day's end, the house seemed warmer, livelier and unmistakably his. Those moments never needed translation. They became part of the rhythm of daily life, a bond built through trust, affection and shared experience rather than spoken language.
It's this relationship that sits at the heart of Michelle's story, not because Thunder replaced human conversation, but because he's a reminder that connection can be expressed in more ways than language alone.

When a birthday became a gift
Thunder's birthday had always been an occasion for celebration. While guests naturally arrived with gifts for the birthday boy, Michelle had created a tradition of her own: every party became an opportunity for Thunder to share that joy with others through thoughtful gifts prepared in his name.
In 2025, that tradition took on a new form.
Michelle opened a special birthday invitation through Soul Tails, inviting the humans of Thunder's furry friends to join the celebration. Instead of party favors, each participant received a different kind of gift: the opportunity to ask one heartfelt question of their beloved companion animal through an animal communication session. By the close of the invitation, 30 companion animals had become part of Thunder's birthday celebration.
To commemorate the occasion, I wrote "Thunder's Gift: Messages From My Friends to Their Favorite Humans," a story inspired by the celebration and told from Thunder's playful perspective. Full of his unmistakable humor, boundless enthusiasm and larger-than-life personality, the story imagined Thunder welcoming his friends to the party and celebrating the unique bond each shared with the people who loved them.
The celebration became more than a birthday. It reflected a tradition Michelle had nurtured over the years, using Thunder's special day as an opportunity to create joy for others.
Compassion shared
Michelle's celebration of Thunder's birthday reached far beyond the day itself.
She personally sponsored the Soul Tails animal communication sessions offered as birthday gifts to Thunder's friends, inviting their humans to ask one heartfelt question of their beloved companion animal. The corresponding energy exchange was then donated to the Pawsome Paws Community, helping support the Pawsion Program Philippines and its continuing work for community animals.
That spirit of giving runs through many of Michelle's initiatives. During her free Monday meditation sessions, she also opens the space for participants who wish to support community cats through voluntary donations. In 2023, those contributions helped provide veterinary care for Reiki-san, a senior community cat living with chronic kidney disease.
Reiki-san's story didn't end there. He recovered, found a permanent home with Dr. Jerald Camba, the veterinarian behind the Pawsion Program Philippines, and today serves as the resident clinic cat at New Creation Animal Clinic in San Fernando City. Visitors are often welcomed by Reiki-san before they even meet the doctors, as he happily makes his rounds among the veterinary team, staff, pet parents and fellow animal patients.
Michelle has also donated two travel crates that continue to support community spay-and-neuter initiatives, helping volunteers and veterinarians transport animals safely to and from clinics.
Viewed together, these moments reveal a consistent thread. A birthday becomes a gift. A meditation gathering helps save a senior cat. Practical donations support community veterinary care. Acts of kindness continue through the lives they touch, often reaching people and animals far beyond where they first began.
Stories that continue

Thunder's Gift began as a birthday celebration for one much-loved French bulldog. It grew into a shared celebration of 30 companion animals, each bringing a different personality, a different bond and a different story to the occasion.
Rooted in Michelle's tradition of giving through Thunder's birthday, the celebration invited others to honor the animals who had become cherished members of their own families.
The project also brings together two important parts of Michelle's life. Through Soul Talks, she creates spaces where people can share their experiences, hopes and personal journeys. Through Soul Tails, she celebrates the relationships people share with their companion animals, offering another way to deepen
understanding and appreciation for those bonds. While each initiative serves a different purpose, both reflect the same commitment to listening with openness, celebrating meaningful relationships and creating opportunities for connection.
Thunder's birthday became the beginning of something much larger than a single celebration. It inspired a story, welcomed 30 companion animals into a shared experience, and supported community initiatives that continue to care for animals beyond Thunder's own circle of friends. The kindness extended through one celebration found its way into many lives, each carrying its own story forward.
Thunder would probably have enjoyed every bit of the attention. He might even have insisted on a few more photographs, another birthday party and one last victory lap before everyone went home. Anyone who knew him would probably agree that those requests would have been entirely on brand.
Thunder's birthday became more than a celebration, it became an opportunity to create joy for companion animals and support community initiatives. If Michelle's story inspired you, you can continue that spirit of giving by booking a Soul Tails session. A portion of the proceeds helps support the Pawsion Program Philippines, providing care for community animals through veterinary partnerships, spay-and-neuter initiatives and other animal welfare programs.
