Step inside Willy Wonka’s fantastical factory—complete with cascading chocolate rivers, singing Oompa-Loompas, nut-sorting squirrels, and jaw-dropping 3D hologauze illusions by Tim Clothier. The score marries beloved 1971 film favorites like “Pure Imagination” and “The Candy Man” with fresh originals by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Originally helmed by Tony winner Jack O’Brien, this touring production features Matt Lenz’s direction and Alison Solomon’s choreography, fresh from sold-out Shanghai performances and West End Olivier Awards for costumes and lighting.

At Thursday’s press conference, stars Daniel Plimpton and Cohen Toukatly offered a tantalizing preview. Plimpton brings depth to the quirky, solitary Wonka, drawing from personal reflections on legacy and creativity. Young Toukatly radiates joy as kindhearted Charlie Bucket, thrilled to share his first major role with Manila audiences.

Resident Director Drew Cipillone promises theatrical magic: new musical numbers, immersive choreography, real chocolate, dynamic projections, and spontaneous live moments that surprise even returning viewers. The production weaves in local flavor wherever it travels—and Plimpton has cheekily vowed to incorporate “Anak,” “Bongga Ka ‘Day,” “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw,” and “Spaghetti” into the Manila run, to everyone’s delighted amusement.

Tickets available via Ticketworld. UnionBank cardholders get early access Jan. 12-15; public sales begin Jan. 17.
