Likhang Filipino is holding its End-of-Season Sale from Sept. 1-15, marking down Filipino-made products by as much as 50%.
The exhibition and showroom opened in January as a permanent venue managed by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, the export promotion arm of the Department of Trade and Industry. CITEM runs the space to position the Philippines as a sourcing hub for lifestyle, food and creative goods, and Likhang Filipino occupies the former PhilTrade grounds at the International Trade Center Complex, with parking available on-site.
Much of what's on sale was made for export, so shoppers will find items that don't typically turn up in local retail stores. The sale also puts money directly into the hands of the small and medium enterprises behind the products — artisans, designers and the communities they work in.
The venue is organized into six galleries, one for context and five for shopping. Gallery 1 houses the Special Exhibit & Design Library, which walks through 50 years of Philippine design. From there, the retail floor breaks down by category: Gallery 2 covers traditional arts and crafts; Gallery 3 has fashion, textiles and accessories; Gallery 4 is furniture and lighting; Gallery 5 covers home decor, gifts and holiday items; and Gallery 6 is food, health and wellness.
The sale runs through Sept. 15 at the Likhang Filipino Exhibition Halls on Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Shoppers looking to restock a wardrobe, redo a room or get ahead on holiday gifts will want to go early, since selection tends to thin out fast on markdown items.
