The Government Service Insurance System has earmarked ₱520.08 million in emergency loans for 21,153 eligible active members and old-age and disability pensioners affected by separate emergencies in Bagulin, La Union, and the province of Negros Occidental.

The loan reflects GSIS' ongoing effort to provide immediate financial relief to members and pensioners in areas under a state of calamity, disaster or public health emergency.

Eligible members and pensioners in Bagulin, La Union, where officials declared a state of public health emergency over a dengue outbreak, may apply until Aug. 16. Borrowers in Negros Occidental, placed under a state of calamity due to an outbreak of red-striped soft scale insects affecting sugarcane plantations, have until Aug. 14 to submit applications.

To qualify, active members must work or reside in the affected areas, have no unpaid GSIS loan overdue by more than six months, not be on unpaid leave, have paid at least three months of premiums within the last six months, have no pending administrative or criminal case, and maintain a monthly take-home pay of at least ₱5,000 after deductions.

Applications can be submitted through the GSIS Touch mobile app, with loan proceeds credited directly to the borrower's ATM account.
