The Government Service Insurance System has released ₱27.29 billion in microloans to 463,608 active government employees under its Ginhawa Go program, part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s push to widen access to affordable credit for Filipinos.
The facility, running from Oct. 24, 2024, to July 28, 2026, was formerly known as Ginhawa Lite before its relaunch as Ginhawa Go in February 2026. It gives GSIS members a fast, low-cost borrowing option for urgent needs, steering them away from informal and predatory lenders.
Finance Secretary Frederick Go, who oversees GSIS under the Department of Finance, led the program's relaunch on Feb. 19, 2026, calling it a safeguard against abusive lending among government workers.
"This program protects employees from abusive lending processes," Go said.
Eligible members can borrow between ₱1,000 and ₱50,000 at a 6% interest rate, with repayment terms of 30 days to 24 months depending on the loan amount. Applications go through the GSIS Touch mobile app, and approved funds are credited straight to the borrower's account. Every loan carries Loan Redemption Insurance, which clears any remaining balance if the borrower dies, shielding their family from the debt.
"Ginhawa Go answers a basic need for our members: quick, dignified access to credit that will not push them toward informal lenders," said GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso. "The volume moving through this program tells us it is filling a gap our members needed filled."
Members can check their eligibility and apply through the GSIS Touch app or at any GSIS branch nationwide. For more information, visit www.gsis.gov.ph, call the GSIS Contact Center at 88474747, or check GSIS's social media pages.
