GSIS opens ₱4.4B in emergency loans for 9 typhoon-hit areas

The Government Service Insurance System has set aside nearly ₱4.4 billion in emergency loans for 166,789 active members and old-age and disability pensioners across nine areas in Luzon battered by recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon.
Members and pensioners in Pampanga; Calumpit, Bulacan; and Mangaldan and Dagupan City, Pangasinan — 65,737 in all — can apply for the loan until Sept. 13, 2026.
Those in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, have until Sept. 18, while applicants in Hagonoy, Bulacan, and Masinloc, Zambales, have until Sept. 20.
In Cavite and Rodriguez, Rizal, a combined 94,750 eligible members and pensioners can apply until Nov. 12 and Nov. 16, respectively.
To qualify, active GSIS members working or living in the affected areas must have no due and demandable GSIS loan, must not be on unpaid leave, must have paid at least three months of premiums within the preceding six months, must have no pending administrative or criminal case, and must take home at least ₱5,000 a month after deductions.
Old-age and disability pensioners in the affected areas may also apply, as long as their net monthly pension after loan amortization is at least 25% of their basic monthly pension.
Members and pensioners with no existing emergency loan can borrow ₱20,000; those still paying off a previous one can borrow up to ₱40,000, subject to GSIS policies.
The loan is payable over 36 equal monthly installments at 6% interest a year and carries loan redemption insurance, which fully settles the outstanding balance if the borrower dies, provided payments are up to date.
Applications go through the GSIS Touch mobile app, with approved proceeds credited directly to the borrower's GSIS eCard or UMID card.
