BAGUIO CITY — The Government Service Insurance System has awarded land titles to three government employees in Baguio and Benguet, part of its push to expand affordable housing access under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
The title awarding is part of GSIS' continuing effort to provide practical, affordable housing solutions for government workers through its GSIS Pabahay program.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso led the ceremony, handing Transfer Certificates of Title to Imelda Cristeta D. Villamar of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation-Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora T. Valbuena of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities-Baguio, and Lorna A. Bandonill of the GSIS Baguio Branch Office.
"Behind every title is a family that can now plan with confidence, live with peace of mind, and say with certainty that this home is theirs," Veloso said.
Among GSIS' Pabahay offerings is the Lease with Option to Buy program, which lets qualified members lease a GSIS-acquired property first and purchase it later without a downpayment. Repayment terms stretch up to 25 years at interest rates below what commercial banks offer, and GSIS condones penalties for members who stay committed to their housing obligations.
"We know that the downpayment is often what prevents many members from taking the first step toward owning a home. Through the Lease with Option to Buy program, we removed that barrier," Veloso said.
The LWOB program has helped more than 5,000 families nationwide become full homeowners to date. GSIS has also made over 12,000 acquired assets available for purchase, including 22 properties in the Cordillera Administrative Region: 17 in Baguio City, two each in Itogon and La Trinidad, and one in Tuba, Benguet.
The latest awarding reflects GSIS' continued role in the Marcos administration's housing agenda, turning national policy into direct benefits for government employees and a stronger financial foundation for their families.
