GMG Productions is bringing two internationally acclaimed shows to The Theatre at Solaire this October and November — one a breathtaking theatrical spectacle, the other a masterclass in orchestrated chaos. Cirque Alice and The Play That Goes Wrong promise two completely different, equally unforgettable nights of live entertainment.
The season opens with the Manila premiere of Cirque Alice, running Oct. 16-25, 2026. Inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the production blends acrobatics, aerial performances, visual effects, and world-class performers into a live spectacle for audiences of all ages.
It's followed by the Olivier and Tony Award-winning comedy phenomenon The Play That Goes Wrong, running Nov. 6-22, 2026. Celebrated internationally as one of the funniest live comedies ever staged, the production turns theatrical disaster into comedy gold through collapsing scenery, slapstick, and perfectly timed mishaps that have delighted audiences worldwide for more than a decade.
Carlos Candal, founder and CEO of GMG Productions, said the season was built around two productions that couldn't be more different.
We've deliberately chosen two productions that couldn't be more different. 'Cirque Alice' is a breathtaking modern theatrical spectacle combining astonishing acrobatics, aerial performances, stunning visuals and the magical world of Alice in Wonderland to create an unforgettable live experience.
'The Play That Goes Wrong' is simply one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. It's brilliant slapstick comedy with perfectly choreographed chaos, spectacular physical comedy and nonstop laughs from beginning to end. I recently took my own children to see it in London and they absolutely loved it. It's the perfect introduction to live theatre for families because everyone, whether you're six or sixty, laughs together.
I'm also incredibly excited that, alongside these productions, 'Harry Potter: A Yule Ball Celebration' will be running simultaneously at The Space at Solaire. Bringing the first official Harry Potter live theatrical experience to the Philippines marks another major milestone for GMG Productions and completes what promises to be one of the most exciting seasons we've ever delivered.
Together, these productions represent an extraordinary season of world-class live entertainment, reflecting our commitment to bringing audiences unique, immersive experiences that surprise, inspire, and create lasting memories. Cirque Alice (Oct. 16-25, 2026)
Cirque Alice brings Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to the stage through a fusion of circus artistry and theatrical storytelling, drawing on the story's "curiouser and curiouser" spirit for a two-hour experience built for all ages.
The production features aerialists, acrobats, contortionists, puppetry, and special guest musical and comedic performers, set to a soundtrack of newly arranged remixes of classical favorites. Brought to life by producers Simon Painter and Tim Lawson, it combines athleticism, music, and visual spectacle — from gravity-defying feats to larger-than-life characters and imaginative set pieces — for a fresh take on Wonderland.
Creative Producer Simon Painter said he was thrilled to bring the production to its Manila premiere.
"The world of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland provides the perfect canvas for an extraordinary cirque production," Painter said. "Filled with some of the most eccentric and larger-than-life characters ever created, the original stories have inspired a truly groundbreaking production that blends breathtaking circus artistry with theatrical storytelling. The creative team includes Creative Directors Ash Jacks McCready and Kirsty Painter, choreographer Dane Bates, costume designer Angela Aaron, lighting designer Hugo Mercier, and musical arrangers Martin Raabe-Olsen and Marius Christiansen. Cirque Alice is presented by GMG Productions in association with Tim Lawson and Simon Painter.
The Play That Goes Wrong (Nov. 6-22, 2026)
Following Cirque Alice, GMG Productions — in arrangement with Mischief Worldwide Ltd. — presents The Play That Goes Wrong, the Olivier and Tony Award-winning smash-hit from London's Mischief.
Widely described as one of the funniest live shows ever created, the play is a tightly choreographed slapstick comedy in which every imaginable mishap unfolds with precise comic timing. What begins as an amateur theater company's earnest attempt to stage a murder mystery quickly unravels into full mayhem, with collapsing sets, disappearing props, forgotten lines, and mishap after mishap turning disaster into comedy gold.
Since its London premiere, the show has become a global phenomenon, entertaining audiences across the West End, Broadway, and more than 50 countries, and earning its place as one of the defining theatrical hits of the past decade.
